The information available from Sawla Senior High School in the Sawla Tuna Kalba District of the Savannah Region indicates that the seven final-year students who were arrested and detained for allegedly practising occultism have been denied bail.
According to reports, these students were arrested on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the school after some of the students complained of their activities to the school authorities.
The suspects are Tanko Sufianu, Adam Rafiw, Mahama Jibreel, Adam Hudu, Mumuni Yahaya and Abukari Saulo.
Our source on campus said, the Headmistress of the School, Mrs Evelyn Nabiah mentioned the names of the suspected students before asking the police to take them away.
The source further stated that while in the examination hall writing the Mathematics Paper 1, “the headmistress came and announced that right after the paper, those students should not go out.”
“So, immediately after the paper, she came out with the list and started mentioning the names of those students and ordered the police who were on standby to come for them without telling us why and how,” the source stated.
The source added that all that the student did was that they were caught killing fowls for sacrifices and were sent to the Discipline Committee for questioning.
Meanwhile, some opinion leaders in the area have taken up the matter to get the students released on bail so they can continue to write their ongoing West African Certificate Examination.
