Betway trains volleyball and table tennis coaches and players in Eastern Region

Betway, an online betting company, has organised a training workshop for volleyball and table tennis coaches and players in the Eastern Region through its “Betway Up” initiative, aimed at uplifting sports teams in Ghana.
The over 50 participants from the two disciplines received training in the areas of sports science, coaching and fitness.
The volleyball players also undertook a practical session at the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) Volleyball Court to afford participants the chance to exhibit their volleyball abilities.
The online betting company also donated sports equipment to the two Associations and as well gave all participants paraphernalia of the company.
Some of the sports equipment donated included volleyballs, nets, table tennis bats, table tennis boards and balls among others.
Dr Aniemena-George Chidi, a Sport and Exercise Physician Specialist engaging the participants on sports science focused on the need to fix the disconnection between sports and health, entreating them to exercise control as sportsmen and women, apply concentration, always be confident and show commitment to the sports.
He advised the participants to always believe in themselves, rather than resort to performance-enhancing drugs or supplements because when that happens it portrays low self-esteem.
He encouraged teams to put in place the right structures by having team Doctors, Physiotherapists, physical instructors to support the development of their players as done in other parts of the world.
Mr Eric Ofori Antwi, a former National Volleyball captain through his engagement with the participants called on the need to brand volleyball and table tennis in the region because it is through proper branding that the discipline could attract the needed investment.
Indicating that, ‘’For any investor to come to your aid you must brand yourself properly’’.
Mr Daniel Kenneth, Chairman of the Eastern Region Volleyball Association commended Betway for the kind gesture extended to the Association.
He indicated that they will continue to partner with Betway and other stakeholders to improve volleyball in the region.
