Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have announced the signing of former Barcelona player, Lionel Messi.

PSG made the announcement a few minutes ago in a post sighted by African Entertainment on its official Instagram page.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the signing of Leo Messi on a two-year contract with an option of a third year,” the French club announced.

CEO Delighted

“I am delighted that Lionel Messi has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain and we are proud to welcome him and his family to Paris,” says the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Mr Al-Khelaifi added that “He (Messi) has made no secret of his desire to continue competing at the very highest level and winning trophies, and naturally our ambition as a club is to do the same.”

As African Entertainment earlier reported Messi arrived in Paris, France on Tuesday afternoon, August 10, 2021, for his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

He landed at the El Prat Airport, African Entertainment understands.

African Entertainment saw a photo of Messi and his wife, Antonella on the same plane travelling to Paris.

What is involved?

Multiple European sports media reports including a report from Sky Sports monitored by African Entertainment indicated that the deal is worth £25 million per year after tax.

‘Barcelona lodge complaint‘

Meanwhile, as earlier reported by African Entertainment, Spanish giant, Barcelona, have lodged a complaint against Frthe each club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The complaint lodged with the European Commission according to a report African Entertainment monitored in the Daily Mirror, is to block Paris Saint-Germain from signing Lionel Messi.

Already, PSG has reportedly offered Messi a two-year formal contract.

PSG offered the contract after it emerged that Messi was no longer staying at Camp Nou.

It is reported that PSG has offered the Argentine an initial two-year deal, thought to be worth £25m a year after tax.
