The First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has reimbursed all allowances paid to her, totalling Gh 899,097.84 back to the State.
The amount was paid through consolidated Bank Ghana Limited with cheque number 000002 being full repayment of monies paid she has received from 7th January, 17 to date as her allowances.
This was contained in a statement from the Officer of the First Lady signed by Mrs Shirley Laryea and sent to the Chief of Staff and copied to the Chief Director, Jubilee House.
The statement said reward herewith a consolidated Bank Ghana Limited cheque number 000002 for an amount of GH 899,097.84 being the full refund for monies received from 7th of January 2017 to date as allowances given to Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic
The statement continued that, as disclosed by the statement issued 12th of July,021 Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic is refunding the amount stated above and also takes this opportunity to decline any allowances to be paid to her in the future.
‘’Her Excellency the First Lady remains committed to her role as First Lady and devoted to her charity work championing the wellbeing of women and children in Ghana’’ the statement said.
