The Member of Parliament for Assin Central Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has presented USD100,000 to the 37 Military Hospital in fulfilment of his promise to cater for the cost of training specialists to manage an ultra-modern Cardiothoracic Centre for the hospital.
It will be recalled that on June 22, 2021, the philanthropic legislator cut a sod for work to commence on the 80 bed Cardiothoracic Centre in honour of a promise he made last year when he donated some medical items including personal protective equipment.
The sum will cover the expenses of medical personnel who will be operating some specialized equipment to be used at the proposed Cardiothoracic Centre at the 37 Military Hospital.
The eight trainee medical technicians are Lt Col. Kwame Acheampong Adomako – Surgeon, Dr Gordon Offei-Larbi – Surgeon; SQ LDR. Benjamin Toboh – Cardiologist and Dr Nana Yaa Kyei-Frimpong – also a Cardiologist.
The rest are, CDR. Titus Enninful – Cardiac Anesthetist; Mr Melvin Michael Asamoah – Perfusionist; MAJ. Gloria Addae – Cardiac Pharmacist as well as Lois Yarborfo Larbie – Biomedical Engineer.
Scheduled to be held in India, he said the training was important because the medical technicians needed to be trained on how to use the equipment.
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in his remarks revealed that some of his friends have agreed to help and support what he has started and urged all to keep hope alive.
On behalf of the Military High Command and the 37 Military Hospital, Lt Col. Kwame Acheampong Adomako expressed gratitude for the gesture and promised to come back better resourced and equipped intellectually to serve the good people of Ghana.
