According to him, by 2024 the achievements of the NPP government will be unprecedented, however ‘’the only thing we have to do is to be marketable to Ghanaians, communicate well to the grassroots level for every Ghanaian to understand so that they can maintain the NPP party in power’’ he indicated.

“We as a political party should be able to justify why Ghanaians should continue with the NPP party after 2024’’ he added.

He made this statement at the second section of the Akuapem South NPP Delegates Conference organised at the Presbyterian Women College of Education at Aburi.

In attendance were the council of elders, patrons, disciplinary committee members, constituency executives, polling station executives, electoral area coordinators and representatives from the region.

Hon. O. B Amoah explained that the NPP in 2008 failed to break the eight, however, the party performed well at the general election, though they lost narrowly to the NDC, but have learnt their lessons and this time around they will make sure that whatever that dragged them back as a political party would be resolved going into the 2024 general elections.

‘’After the 2008 elections, the post mortem indicated that the 17 aspirants were one of our main causes, but this time the constitution has been amended and there is no way we will have many aspirants, maximum would be 5, however when we open nomination and the aspirants are more than 5 then we will go for a mini congress, and bring the number down to 5 and I’m hopeful that will help maintain unity in the party ‘’ he stated.

Another cause, he cited was many parliamentary aspirants going independent which made the party lose many seats,’’ that is how come we lost the parliamentary majority in 2008, but this time around we are working towards it’’ he said.

He said the NPP in Akuapem South is more formidable and they have managed to make Akuapem south their stronghold,’’ we are not satisfied even though we obtained 67 per cent, we should continue to work hard to be able to increase our votes ‘’ he stressed.

Hon. Frank Aidoo, Akuapem South District Chief Executive, said the delegates conference has afforded the NPP in the Akuapem South Constituency the opportunity to deliberate among themselves to make a fruitful assessment of where they have come from, where they have gotten to and the way forward.

He indicated that in breaking the 8, the party could not sit ideal but there was the need for a concerted effort to work extra hard and believing that, through hard work, the NPP could achieve its political target come 2024 general election.

‘’I believe that the NPP party in 2024 will do the unthinkable by breaking the 8’’ he stressed.
