Muslims urged to avail themselves to be counted during the census

The Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund, Dr Sulemana Abdulai has called on all Muslims to make themselves ready to be counted in the ongoing National census to help inform decision making in the Zongo communities.

He said most often, the numbers attributed to the Zongo Communities within the country after every census is low, attributing it to most Muslims not availing themselves to be counted during such a national exercise.
Dr Abdulai made this known when he met with the Council of Muslim Chiefs and Imams in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The visit was to brief them on the various projects undertaken by the Zongo Development Fund in the various Zongo communities.
He said the fund has about 700 ongoing projects and indicated that hopefully about 500 of them will be completed by the end of this year.

Mohammed Nurudin, spokesperson for the Zongo Council of Chiefs and Imams in the Eastern region told the media that Muslims in Koforidua have not seen the said development projects they are talking about, however, indicated that maybe they are now going to see the projects.
He lamented that two past Chief Executives of the Zongo Development Fund during their visits also said the same, but community members can’t see the projects as being stated.
