PHOTOS: Police Ladies Association calls on Deputy Interior Minister

The Ghana Police Ladies Association (POLAS), led by the Director-General in charge of Welfare who is also the President of the Association, COP, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah called on the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah at the Ministry in Accra.

The Ghana Police Ladies Association (POLAS), led by the Director-General in charge of Welfare who is also the President of the Association, COP, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah called on the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah at the Ministry in Accra.

The visit was to congratulate Hon. Naana Eyiah on her appointment as the first woman Deputy Minister for the Interior and urged the government to increase the number of female police officers, especially at the senior level to encourage women.

According to COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa, out of the staff strength of the service, Policewomen from 27.93 percent of the Police force. She called for improvement in the number, saying women can do well and make difference when given the opportunity.

She assured the government of the Police Service continued support to ensure peace and security for the good people of Ghana.

In her response, the Hon. Deputy Minister thanked POLAS for their visit and encouragement and assured the members that she will convey their message to the sector Minister, Mr. Ambrose Dery, and see how best their plight can be addressed.

Hon. Naana Eyiah also assured them of the government’s commitment to gender parity and said women are capable of handling positions and that the Ministry will continue to work together with the Police Service and find a way of bridging the gap.

After the meeting with the Hon. Deputy Minister, the delegation from POLAS called on Mr. Ambrose Dery to thank him for the meeting with his deputy. The sector Minister assured them of his support and good working relationship.
