Police brutalize residents over power theft in Nakpanzoo

A team of officers from the Volta River Authority (VRA) in Tamale led a team of Police officers to unleash mayhem on residents of Nakpanzoo over alleged power theft.

A team of officers from the Volta River Authority (VRA) in Tamale led a team of Police officers to unleash mayhem on residents of Nakpanzoo over alleged power theft.

In a video, police officers and a team from VRA are seen manhandling some alleged power thieves at their various homes in the area.

In the video, some of the officers were seen breaking into a room after noticing the owner of the room was absent.

The incident according to the Assemblyman of the area Alhassan Yoggudoo occurred on Monday, September 20, 2021, when VRA technicians carried out a disconnection exercise in the community.

Confirming the incident to Diamond News, Hon. Alhassan Yoggudoo stated that the police after brutalizing and arresting the alleged power thieves also broke into a room and picked away a motorbike belonging to one of the residents.

One of the landlords who were absent during the act decided to complain to the police station but, he was arrested and detained at the police station for committing no crime.

“We are shocked and surprise over what happen yesterday”, he lamented.

Meanwhile, the Assemblyman also revealed that all the persons that were arrested during the operation have been granted bail.
