Relocation of traders a big boost for economic activities in Adjen Kotoku – Chief

The Chief of Adjen Kotoku in the GA West Municipality of Greater Accra, Nii Quaye Chumor II has said the relocation of traders from the Agbogbloshie Market will help boost economic activities in the area.

According to him, Adjen Kotoku is predominantly a farming community and with such a huge move of onion sellers, scrap dealers and other traders to their area the economic impact would be felt greatly.

Speaking to Kwaku Aboagye Apenteng on Freedom Radio’s ‘’Yen Man’’ show, he said the chiefs and people of the area are excited because the initiative was hatched 15 years ago by then-President John Agyekum Kuffour.

However, after everything was done the traders refused to use the facility, therefore, allowing people to encroach the land until the GA West Municipal Assembly decided to give the facility to the locals to use as a trading centre.

Nii Chumor II commended the Greater Accra Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey for his contribution in ensuring that the initiative came to fruition.

He indicated that the chiefs and people in the area will collaborate with the government to boost trading activities in the area, which in turn will enhance their economic fortunes.
