The Volta Regional Health Directorate has sent a caution to persons in the Region against misinformation of the general public on pertinent health issues and especially the deployment of Covid 19 vaccines.
In a statement issued and signed by Dr. Timothy S. Letsa, Volta Regional Director of Health Services of which Freedom Radio have sighted a copy, the statement assured the public and specifically the inhabitants of the Volta Region of its firm commitment of working with all stakeholders to implement all available interventions to help reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
According to the statement the Region has ridden on the back of a reliable and robust Expanded Programme on immunization to deploy 25,800 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines in all 18 districts according to phase 1 of the national deployment plan.
Indicating that, phase one covered the majority of health workers, a significant proportion of frontline security officials involved in the response activities, and vulnerable populations.
The statement further went on to say that an allocation of the recently deployed Johnson and Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines has also been made for the Volta Region, with the deployment of these vaccines will follow right after the training and implementation meetings that will be concluded on the 25th of August,2021.
The health service in the Region would likely highly commend all its stakeholders for the unflinching support thus far and indicating that in the coming days and months vaccines will be deployed across the region in several phases according to the phased implementations strategy that has been developed.
The service is therefore counting on the support of all stakeholders to assist in sensitizing and mobilizing all the inhabitants of the Volta Region to receive the vaccination when it is made available.
